Summary of discussions

Minister Jayawardena chaired the third meeting of the Trade Union Advisory Group (TUAG) on Monday, 26 April. In his opening remarks, the minister thanked members of the group for their continued support in ensuring we achieved the best trade policy for British workers.

The group received updates and contributed to discussions on the United Kingdom-Canada and United Kingdom-Mexico free trade agreements, the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and the Airbus/Boeing dispute and Section 232.

Overall, the group was encouraged by the ongoing, positive work in the department whilst highlighting the need to continue to uphold high labour standards in the trade deals the Department for International Trade negotiates.
