Details

In the 2016 Autumn Statement, the government announced it would introduce business rates relief for new full fibre infrastructure over a five year period, beginning 1 April 2017. The Non-domestic rating (Telecommunications Infrastructure Relief) (England) Regulations 2018 enables the relief. This relief applies to telecoms infrastructure in England only.

The value of the relief is certified by the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) and is a proportion of the rateable value of the telecoms infrastructure.

Appeal your relief

If you disagree with the amount of relief given for a telecoms infrastructure, you can appeal. You can only do this if you have the right to, as the owner, occupier or authorised agent.

To appeal, you should complete the Telecoms Infrastructure Relief appeal form and email it to nvumailbox@voa.gsi.gov.uk.

Request a copy of a certificate

You can request a copy of a Telecoms Infrastructure Relief certificate if you are:

  • the ratepayer of the telecoms infrastructure which the certificate relates to
  • the ratepayer of another telecoms infrastructure for which a Telecoms Infrastructure Relief certificate has been issued

If you are entitled to request a copy of a certificate, you should email nvumailbox@voa.gsi.gov.uk.
