Guidance

Registering to use LRS as an awarding organisation

Updated 9 May 2024

Applies to England, Northern Ireland and Wales

This guidance is for awarding organisations registering to use the Learning Records Service (LRS).

1. Signing the Data Sharing Agreement (DSA)

The new Data Sharing Agreement must be signed by an awarding organisation to use LRS.

This agreement outlines the framework for data shared in the following areas of LRS:

  • Personal Learning Record (PLR)
  • Entries and Results

This replaces any previously signed agreement for data sharing through LRS.

2. Requesting the Data Sharing Agreement

Contact the LRS Support Desk to request a copy of the DSA for your organisation.

The completed and signed DSA must be sent by email to LRS.support@education.gov.uk.

3. Accessing the Learning Records Service

A primary user (super user) of LRS for your organisation must be confirmed in the DSA.

Once the DSA has been verified, the super user will receive an email with login details for LRS.

After logging in to LRS, user accounts can be created by the super user for people in their awarding organisation that require access.
