Government departments operate in high pressure environments with time-sensitive targets. Meeting these targets starts with successful project initiation.

This report summarises the findings from interviews conducted with senior responsible owners and project directors from 6 Defra projects of varying project type, size, scale, complexity and risk level.

The Defra Project Delivery Function, the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) and PA Consulting have worked collaboratively to develop this report.
