This report presents the findings of a 2014 survey on public awareness of, and attitudes towards, the use of animals in scientific research. The survey also examines public awareness of possible alternatives to animal research. This is the first survey in a new research series looking at the UK public’s attitudes to the use of animals in research and is expected to be re-run in approximately 2 years.
The questions in this survey are modelled on those of a long-term trend survey into attitudes towards animal research run since 1999 by Ipsos MORI for the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and partner organisations.
The final wave of research in this series is also published today Attitudes to animal research: A long-term survey of public views 1999 to 2014.
