This guidance should be read alongside the statutory guidance on induction for early career teachers (ECTs).

These documents are for the following appropriate bodies:

  • teaching school hubs
  • other organisations that the Secretary of State for Education has determined can act in this role

They outline:

  • the statutory roles and responsibilities of appropriate bodies
  • an appropriate body’s role in checking that the induction is based on either the:
    • early career framework (ECF) for ECTs starting induction before 1 September 2025
    • initial teacher training and early career framework (ITTECF) for ECTs starting induction from 1 September 2025
  • good practice appropriate bodies can follow
