Joanna Wallace was appointed to the role of Independent Case Examiner in April 2013.
Her previous roles include:

- Director of Spire Manchester Hospital
- lay member of the Sentencing Advisory Panel
Independent Case Examiner
The Independent Case Examiner (ICE) reviews complaints made by users of:
- the Child Support Agency
- Jobcentre Plus (including most work provider services)
- The Pension Service
- the Disability and Carers Service
- Debt Management (part of DWP)
- the Financial Assistance Scheme
- the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Division (Northern Ireland)
- the Northern Ireland Social Security Agency
- the Independent Living Fund
