Mr Dawid Konotey-Ahulu CBE

Biography

Dawid is a British Ghanaian entrepreneur, the son of a Ghanaian doctor and English nurse. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1987, switching to a career in investment banking in 1990 where he pioneered risk management for defined benefit pension schemes. In 2006, he left Merrill Lynch to co-found Redington, an independent investment consulting firm advising institutional pension funds, wealth managers and insurance companies. In 2009, he founded Mallowstreet, an online and in-person collaboration and marketing platform for the asset management industry. In 2020, Dawid co-founded 10,000 Interns, a charitable foundation providing internships across 20 industry sectors for undergraduates of Black heritage, or with a disability. He was named Black British Business Entrepreneur of the Year in 2018, and sat on the Prime Minister’s Business Council 2022. He sits on the boards of four non-profit organisations: 10,000 Interns Foundation, Mission 44, Somerset House and Legacy of War Foundation. He was awarded a CBE in the 2023 New Year Honours List.

Member of the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments

The role of the committee is to:

  • provide independent advice to the Prime Minister on the application of the government’s Business Appointment Rules to the most senior members of the Civil Service, armed forces, diplomatic service, and intelligence agencies who wish to take up appointments within 2 years of leaving Crown service
  • provide independent advice directly to former ministers on appointments they wish to take up within 2 years of leaving government
