Corinne Kitsell OBE
Biography
Corinne Kitsell was appointed Ambassador and UK Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO) in Vienna in October 2020. At the same time, she was also appointed as UK Governor on the Board of Governors of the IAEA.
Before arriving in Vienna, Ms Kitsell was Head of the UN and Multilateral Department at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London. Prior to that she was Head of the FCO’s Conflict Department. From 2013-2016 she was Counsellor at the UK Mission to the United Nations in New York.
Before New York, Ms Kitsell was the FCO’s Deputy Director Migration in London for two years. Her previous overseas postings include the UK Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, the British Embassy in Beirut and short stints in Beijing, Karachi, Hamburg, Accra and New York. In London she has also worked in the FCO’s Policy Unit and in departments dealing with EU trade and development, the United Nations, Human Rights, the Commonwealth and the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
Ms Kitsell was born in London and joined the FCO in 1992.
